Snowflake Meets Power BI: The Secure Connection That Will Change Your Reporting Game
As a data engineer, I constantly face new challenges while working with data and new technologies. In today’s data-driven world, integrating powerful analytics tools like Power BI with cloud-based data warehouses like Snowflake is crucial for businesses to make informed decisions.
Hence, I started working on Power BI and Snowflake’s reader account. In an uncertain world, we never know when our data will be compromised, so I had to ensure sufficient security checks while connecting both powerful technologies. In this post, I will share my experience and explain how to integrate both securely.
Introduction
Power BI is a powerful tool for analyzing data with useful widgets. You can build reports and dashboards in Power BI and share them with customers with required permissions.
On the other hand, Snowflake is a rapidly growing and widely used cloud-based data warehouse platform that allows handling large datasets.
Integrating both requires security measures to avoid security breaches on the data side. Securing data is essential. We can use multiple types of authentications from Snowflake’s side, and Power BI should support all of them natively. However, that is not the case.
